Here’s how you can feel relaxed, de-stressed and rejuvenated this Ramadan.

As we approach the holy month of spirituality and purity, it goes without saying that preparing for the 14-hour-long dry fast is a must.  Although a dry-fast boasts a number of physiological benefits, like detoxifying the toxins from your body…it is also important to prioritize your spiritual and mental well-being throughout these warm summer days. Creating a checklist that balances all sides of body, mind and matter is quintessential, and not *just* for those lavish Iftar buffet nights – but to promote a healthy environment for the days to come.

So let’s cut to the chase. Here are some quick hacks on how to smoothly transition to this spiritual month, and ace it for the days to come:

1. Stay hydrated…whenever you can:

Ah, yes.  The most common issue that most people face while practicing a dry-fast is dehydration- post Iftar (the break of the fast) and Suhoor (the pre-fast meal). Not only does this translate to physical deficiencies, but can also affect the pH levels of your skin. Keeping a steady count on the liters of water consumed (during the permissible hours) will help your body adjust to the long hours of fasting, and protect your epidermis from lack of moisture. Investing in a dry oil with natural ingredients during this period can help restore your skin and keep you comfortably moisturized for days!

2.  Take a step back, breathe, and immerse yourself in nature:

Doing any sort of physical activity during this month can seem daunting, especially with the rise in temperatures in the UAE. But alternatively, staying at home for long periods can make you feel cooped up and left out. The solution? Take a breather. Maybe a stroll at the nearest park. Sun-bathe.  Try a mild olfactory exercise that soothes your senses and doesn’t overwhelm you. Anything that keeps you holistically engaged, and mentally active should be on your priority list this month.

3. Get loads of quality rest

Sleep is another component that we need to factor in to keep those energy levels intact during this month. Waking up for Suhoor and then heading out to work in the next few hours? That definitely takes a toll on our productivity and efficiency during office hours. Getting an ample amount of sleep can create a bubble of vigour in our routine and enable us to practice our routines, effortlessly. Using a roll-on concentrate on the pulse points of your body can help combat insomnia, and give you a full night’s worth of rest. After all, we’ve got to make it on time for those joyous Suhoor mornings!

Whether you are practicing/ fasting this Ramadan or just want to support your Muslim friends, it’s always handy to keep this checklist in mind! The colours that we have chosen for this month are: Gold-Confidence*, White-Purity* and Silver-Repair*. This Ramadan, we continue to advocate all-natural, vegan, organic and cruelty-free practices, as much as we advocate for our mind, body and holistic wellness practices.
